våra resor konserterat i kyrkor, katedraler
och konsertsalar i såväl ett flertal
europeiska länder som i USA. Sommaren 2006
tilldelades kören en delad förstaplats i en
internationell sakral körtävling i Preveza,
Grekland. Kammarkören deltar årligen i
Linköpings Domkyrkas uppsättningar av större
mässor, requiem och passioner. Utöver
barockmusik arbetar kören med modernare
sakral musik inkluderande ett flertal av
dagens skandinaviska tonsättare.
The Chamber Choir of
the Cathedral of Linköping, Sweden
This
ensemble consisting of 30 amateur singers
was established in 1977 mainly to
participate in masses and services of the
Cathedral of Linköping. Lennart Ekholm, who
was our first conductor, was in charge of
the choir until 1995, when the current
director Jörgen Ralphsson was appointed as
conductor. During the years the choir has
worked together with several, mainly
Swedish, orchestras and choirs and has
participated in quite a few radio- and
television-recordings. The Chamber Choir of
the Cathedral of Linköping has travelled
abroad about every other year to perform in
churches, cathedrals and concert halls in
several European countries such as Great
Britain, France, former Czechoslovakia,
Poland, Austria, former DDR, Denmark and
Northern Ireland, as well as in The United
States of America. The summer of 2006 this
Chamber Choir won a gold medal in “24th
International Choral Competition of Sacred
Music” of Preveza in Greece.
The
Chamber Choir of the Cathedral of Linköping
has made four CD-recordings and is currently
working on the fifth. The first two
recordings where made in the 1980’s. The
first record contained music by U.Sandén,
former organist in the Cathedral, while the
second included chosen parts from “A
Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols”. In
1997 “The Swedish Mass” by J.H.Roman was
recorded as well as work by other
Scandinavian composers such as E.Grieg,
K.Nystedt and O.Olsson. 1999 the CD “Veni
Sancte Spiritus” apart from Scandinavian
works contained music by G.P.Palestrina,
F.Poulenc, B.Britten, J.Busto and J.Berger.
The ongoing recording contains so far “Messe
für Doppelchor” by F.Martin, G.Allegri’s
“Miserere”, “Komm, Jesu Komm” by J.S.Bach
and parts of F.Poulenc’s “Mass in G-major”.
Yearly, the Chamber Choir participates in
the performances of J.S.Bach’s greater
masses and passions set in the Cathedral of
Linköping, including the “St Matthew
Passion”, the “St John Passion”, the
“Magnificat” and the “Mass in B-minor”.
Moreover, the “Messiah” by G.F.Handel is
performed on a regular basis in our
Cathedral. Among other pieces of early music
these performances are usually made together
with the Chamber Orchestra of the Cathedral
of Linköping. The Chamber Orchestra is an
orchestra mainly using early baroque
instruments. Together with this orchestra
the Chamber Choir has performed early music
such as “The Vespers” by C.Monteverdi,
D.Buxtehude’s “Jesu Membra Nostri” and “Die
Sieben Worte Jesu Christe am Kreutz” among
other works by H.Schütz, T.Tallis and other
early composers. Beside baroque music the
Chamber Choir has also worked with sacral
choral music by composers as F. Poulenc, F.
Martin, J.Rutter, B.Chilcott, H.Gorecki,
A.Pärt, S.E.Bäck and P.G.Petersson and
several Scandinavian composers of today.
